Happy 21 Months Edison

Well I must admit, today was one of those perfect days and to top it off, we celebrated 21 super months of having Edison in our lives! I had been looking forward to this day for months, not because of his "monthly" birthday but because of our special doctor's visit today where we found out if Edison is gonna have a brother or sister (SEE PREVIOUS BLOG FOR ANSWER)!

But looking at the day, it really was great. Edison only really had a half of a tantrum, which is great compared to usually having one or more a day over the last month or so (hello terrible twos)! And because of our appointment today, Edison missed his naptime, so I was expecting a meltdown at some point.

I made us a delish breakfast of pumpkin pie pancakes, eggs, plums and fresh squeezed grapefruit and tangerine juice. Then we played ball, read books, played in the water with our diver figurines, played "git'chy" and watched for the garbage men (Tuesday is our favorite day cuz we get to see their cool trucks). Then we had lunch and got ready for our ultrasound appointment. This picture is after Edison ate all his green beans and spaghetti pie... he's eating a thin mint and refusing to say "cheese" for the picture because he's too busy trying to get my cookie too.

Now here we are in the waiting room at the OBGYN. Edison was carrying around two cups of water drinking between the two and going up to say hello to all the patients and staff. He really knows how to commandeer a room. By the time Jim took this pic, Edison was waiting by the door and I think was ready to go and take a nap, but we were waiting for the doctor, sorry birthday dude. After getting home and playing outside and visiting with the neighbors all afternoon, we decided to go to mommy's favorite vegetarian restaurant Watercourse and had a celebratory dinner of all things family. Here he is doing the color page.
Then we got home, took a bath AND a shower, read books, sang songs and let the little birthday boy fall asleep.

A FEW FACTS ABOUT EDISON:
-He can sing the whole "Happy Birthday" song
-He can count almost to 15 without any help or error every time. 19 is the highest he's counted by himself.
-He is really trying to master the ABCs. He can do most of them, but needs some help in the middle.
-He is good at remembering people's names and really just loves his friends and family.
-He's not always easy, there are plenty of melt-downs and him being a little too curious for me to keep up with, but I'm far too in love with him to let the hard-times bring me down.
-He is really athletic and has been loving going swimming.
