Audrey's 9 Month Well Baby Check-Up

Here's Audrey on the swing in our backyard. She still has a cold, but has been in good spirits. Our nap schedule has been off.

Our 9 month well baby check-up went good. The nurse examined Audrey's attention span and said it was excellent. We had to fill out the usual paperwork each time the kids have a "milestone" age and Audrey meets/exceeds in skills where a baby her age should be. For instance it asks if she can hold items in both hands, react if being talked to, sit up by herself and play by herself.

We also talked about her language skills and our nurse said that early talkers are said to have high IQs, so she has that going for her. Edison was the same way.

Audrey is very spirited. We can tell that she has a sense of humor already by the way she interacts with us. She also has a good sense of rhythm and taps/moves along to music. She continues to use a few signs (sign language) at the table during meals asking for "more" or telling us when she's "all done." Also at the dinner table she looks at the family pictures hanging on the wall and identifies "Ed-ih" or "dada." She has also been "sharing" food with us or perhaps just mimicking us feeding her, but she has been offering us food lately. I also was quizzing her today with objects/pictures in her room and I am 99.9% certain she said "right here" when referring to the location of our cat.

This little lady is lightweight and really long. If you know her dad, this should come as no shock. She could use some fattening up, but the nurse isn't worried because she's got some great baby fat rolls and is overall happy, so it's nothing to be concerned about.

Here's her stats-
Height: 28 in (67.1 percentile)
Weight: 16 lbs, 3 1/4 oz (9.5 percentile)
Head Circumference: 43.4 cm (33.2 percentile)

Soon to come with Audrey's growth and development and nutrition... Crawling and walking are on the horizon. She is still trying to get crawling down, literally anyday. She is also trying to pull herself up to standing position when possible as well. She does a great job standing on her feet if I hold her up. Her third tooth is coming in and we got her a little toothbrush to get her accustomed to the routine. Her diet thus far has been pretty simple with fruit and vegetable purees and warm cereal. Now is the time I'm gonna step it up. Starting to add herbs and spices to her food like cumin, basil, mint and cinnamon. Also, I'm gonna feed her some ground turkey and quinoa soon.

Happy 9 months baby Audrey. You'll always be my baby, but you're growing up so fast already. You really make our little family complete. Your mom, dad and brother love you so much and we are excited to teach, show and discover this world with you! Sometimes I feel like the purpose of life is to find our purpose and motherhood has by far been the most meaningful purpose I'll ever experience.
