Going into age 3, I was really optimistic. I thought, this is a year with a huge milestone (Edison starting school) and I was content in knowing that Edison was going to just love school and everything would be okay. Well to be honest, its not exactly roses. Friends warned us and it's true, 3 is a tough age! The tough stuff: Edison has really clear notions of what he wants (which is great), but often times it conflicts with what us parents want, so it turns into a conflict and those conflicts are highly emotional and result in tantrums that are difficult to know how to handle. Our conflicts are so mundane most of the time. For instance, Jim poured water into a glass for Edison so he could drink his Vitamin C water and he wanted to pour it, so then he poured all the water out on the floor. And he's getting jealous of his sister at times and as a retaliation to get our attention, he will push Audrey over or take toys away from her.
The great stuff: Despite telling us that school was "bad" most days of the week, he's learning Mandarin Chinese and is using it around our house. He's learning to write his numbers. He is still funny as heck. Jim is just truly charmed that Edison is still incredibly social, even in our new neighborhood. Lately, he, Audrey and Jim have been walking around the neighborhood and knocking on doors to talk with and meet people. Jim relayed that he especially likes stopping by houses where there's evidence of kids there, hoping to make a new friend. We also find it real cute that he sings songs in Chinese to himself at night. He's eating all of his dinner, getting dressed and he likes to take showers by himself.

Edison is a great kid, we are so happy to be his parents.
Edison and Audrey are a cute pair, and when they aren't busy being jealous of one another they are just super wonderful together. I love them!
