Hey everyone! Look who's 18 months old today!!! Way to grow party baby...
...now back to our trip.
Day 2: Edison got his usual 12 hours of s
leep, we got ready and headed down to Baron's the hotel's restaurant. Edison was excited to go there because there was a waterfall water feature in the restaurant. The food was over-priced and disappointing too, but its lovely.
We went back upstairs and loaded up our swim gear and walked over to
the hot springs pool. It was great. We played in the water for about an hour, then were ready for lunch. We ate at the Glenwood Brewery where Edison got to eat "pizza" which he was asking for.
Then it was naptime and Edison had one of his epic naps clocking in at over 2 1/2 hours! We played in the room and then got ready to venture out into the cold. Since the time change, it gets darker earlier and once the sun goes down in the mountains, its CHILLY!
We went downtown looking for some sort of Asian cuisine and stumbled upon a Chinese-Thai restaurant that were attracting folks with their "recession" prices of all meals 50% off. The food was good and I filled up on a tofu and vegetable dish and Jim had a chicken and broccoli dish. We shared with Edison and Jim ordered crab cakes, which Edison seemed to like.
We walked off our dinner and stumbled into a coffeehouse that served homemade gelato and shared a drink and gelato. Again Edison charmed the owners and they were watching him play around their cafe. There was a mountain supplies store hooked to coffee shop so Edison and I went in and were trying on sunglasses and hats 'n stuff, it was great.
We walked home, bathed and went to sleep. Its been nice to have these relaxing days and to wander around a new area without any schedule. Family time is the best time!
Got up before the baby and packed our belongings to head out this afternoon. Edison slept until 9:15am, so once he was up we headed out to have breakfast at The Daily Bread which was recommended by a few friends. It was delicious and afterwards, we walked to Through the Looking Glass Children's Bookstore and let Edison pick out a book about trains. We hit up Good Food for some lunch items for Edison for later and then we walked back to the hotel and hung out in the lobby for about an hour until we got a ride to the train station. 
The train station is walking distance but with a toddler it was handy to have a ride. We boarded the train and were heading towards Denver at 12:50pm, we got to the train station at 7pm. The ride seemed longer on the way home than it was there. Perhaps because it got dark at 5pm, but I think it was mostly due to Edison needing a nap. He ended up sleeping for 20 or so minutes. We ate dinner on the train and met some nice people. Edison charmed the staff of the restaurant cart because he was being courteous and also saying "pasta" anytime one of the staff would walk by because he was excited to eat it for dinner.
Fun trip, but we are glad to be HOME! Happy Thanksgiving!
