Compton Party: Christmas Haps...

The Day before Christmas Eve we went up to Boulder for our friend Dash's first birthday! It was a monster-themed party and they sent the kids home with awesome gift bags full of goodies-

That night we decided to skip cooking dinner, since I had been preparing food to take to both sides of the families' homes and so we went to Highlands Asian Grill. Edison brought his coin purse and everytime our favorite waitress would come to our table he would try and hand her a dollar bill. In this picture, he is counting out his money to tip her-

...and I want to add that Edison had Pad Thai for the first time that night and absolutely loved it. He usually shares my tofu, steamed veggies and rice plate with me, but he was all about the pork and Pad Thai that Jim ordered.

Christmas Eve was spent at the Sweeney house. Audrey and Edison of course love going to see family and my mom was having a great time making Audrey laugh-

Santa Grandpa also stopped by. Santa's enthusiasm for Edison scared him and he started to cry-

It was a long day. We stopped to get gas and Edison (Audrey too) was conked out-

After we got the kids to bed, Jim and I multi-tasked to get the house ready for Christmas morning. Jim put together Edison's new easel that his grandma and grandpa Compton got him-

And I made some eggnog (without eggnog) pancakes-

The easel looks great and our little Chrstimas tree-less house is ready-

Christmas morning rolls around and Audrey is the first to wake up. While I'm feeding her, Edison wakes up and Jim is keeping him occupied so that he won't go into the living room to see his presents without me being there. So the boys shower, get dressed and it's finally time for the big present reveal. Edison was so excited-

Here's a little what opening presents looked like-

...he opened all the presents for he and Audrey. He also loved finding out what was in his stocking. I put some yummy treats in there like pomegranate fruit leather, dried peas, ginger candies as well as Thomas the Train undies, mittens, books... I FIT A LOT IN THERE!

The kids got a lot of really nice gifts so thank you one and all for everything. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to cycle his toys so that he can appreciate them all. He has been clocking in some hours at his easel already-

Audrey got some cute clothes. She also got a few Hello Kitty items, which I like. I can't wait until she can fit into her Hello Kitty fuzzy leopard print bonnet. Probably next winter-

...well we enjoyed a nice breakfast, family nap and then headed over to the Pojman's house. I haven't mentioned this on the blog yet, but Jim's parents recently moved to Oregon to take care of Linda's parents so they weren't here with us this year. We definitely miss them dearly and enjoyed talking to them on the phone on Christmas Day. We are planning a trip out west in a few months to see them.

And that was Christmas. We sort of had to rush out of the Pojmans because Audrey was just plain exhausted. All this travel had uprooted Audrey's schedule and its hard for her to have a sound nap when she's not at home. She'll sleep other places, but she's a light sleeper. Because of her pain cries (which ended up just being cries of exhaustion) we thought maybe she had an ear infection, or was teething so I couldn't wait for Monday to take her into the pediatrician.

Oh and the day after Christmas we went to Fort Collins to see some of my old high school girlfriends! First we went met my friend Kevin and her husband at a new restaurant in Old Town called Ingredient then hit up Walrus Ice Cream afterward. Right as we were getting ready to leave Ingredient, Edison charmed the lady at the counter to give him a strawberry. Little did we know she'd give him strawberry and chocolate sauce to dip them in. That chocolate face looks creepier than the monster on his new sweater Janene got him-

And then we went to my friend Jenny's house. Jenny has a son that's 16 months old, so it was great to see him being more mobile and communicative than the last time I had seen him. This is Camron-

AND our old friend Quenby was in town as well from Oklahoma. She has two kids now 5 and 7 and I haven't seen them in about 5 years since her son was so small! What a great friend reunion-
