Today Edison, Audrey and I participated in the filming of the Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We were invited by the owners of Tocabe, the "Native American Eatery" that you probably hear me mention a lot to be patrons eating at the restaurant while they were filming.
They asked us because Edison is their #1 favorite customer (their words, not mine). Everyone that works at Tocabe knows Edison's name so out of loyalty they asked us to be a part of their exciting day. And what a day it was...
For me, I loved watching the television crew work together. Made me miss working with my old tv team. For Audrey, she just liked being held as much as possible. And for Edison, he liked that he got to eat SOOOOO much food and hang out with the staff and other folks waiting to "be" on the show as well.
Another highlight was that the field producer made an announcement between filming and said that Tocabe was the most "unique" and "exciting" location they've ever filmed at... he was very sincere when he said it (and he's produced over 100 episodes) and also the main boss also said he was very impressed with the restaurant as well! They are very excited about this episode. Way to go Tocabe, it's always great to hear other foodies praise places we love to eat.
To be honest, I don't think we will be in the episode. I forgot to sign the release form before we bolted out of there (we were there over four hours and I really needed to get Audrey home to eat and nap AND she was crying). But it was a great experience regardless. Edison was well-behaved... almost in a comical sense. He had been very patient and followed the rule of being quiet while on set... so when it was our turn to be filmed ordering Edison was whispering his order. Cute, but not the "tv magic" they were looking for (based on my impression as a former producer) and also Edison looked at the camera and asked "who's that guy mommy" and the other rule was "don't look at the camera." So again, my thought is if you see us in the episode, it'll be very minimally. But that's okay, it's not about us, it's about the food.

ON A SIDE NOTE: It would have been more fun to have Jim there. The camera loves Jim. So much so in fact, he's featured in these taped comedic ads for the Starz Denver Film Festival that air before the films. He also did this last year.
